1973 E-Type 2+2 – SOLD!

This is a 1973 Series 3 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 – it is an incredibly well-preserved “virgin” car – with only 34,000 original miles!  This E-Type is 100% original from top to bottom and has been lovingly cared for by the same owners since it was 2 years old.  Built in mid-October of 1972, it is an original manual gearbox (4-speed) car, and all numbers match, with clear title paperwork.

The current owners of the car purchased it in 1975, as a 2-year-old “used” car with less than 2,000 miles on it – when they were 38 years old and had small children.  They have enjoyed and lovingly cared for this car for the past 43 years, but as they are now 81 years old, they are reluctantly ready to pass her on to another good home.

Other than a well done re-spray of the original Primrose paint (a period color that I have found women especially ADORE on an E-Type…), the car is absolutely 100% original!  From the numbers-matching original engine and gearbox, to the original black leather interior, and even right down to the last nut, bolt and screw….  The engine and gearbox have never been out of the car, so important little brackets and fasteners are all intact.  Aside from one or two coolant hoses and clamps, brake pads, etc. (all typical replacement items…) – this E-Type is in the same condition as it was when it left the factory 45 years ago – it is an absolute TIME CAPSULE!

The ride quality of a V-12 powered Series 3 E-Type is simply second to none in the world of British sports cars.  With a longer wheelbase, a 2+2 has a much smoother ride than the short-wheelbase cars, and allows you to take the kids (or grandchildren) with you!  The all-aluminum Jaguar SOHC V-12 produces strong torque throughout a wide RPM range, but more smoothly than any other powerplant of its era.

This E-Type has been driven regularly without any major issues throughout its life – and has ALWAYS been stored indoors.  Currently, the car starts and runs smoothly – as it always has – and was driven into the garage without issues.  Due to the current age of the couple who owns the car, it has not been driven in 3 years, and needs a few days of attention, fluid changes, etc.  For example, both the brake and clutch hydraulic reservoirs have drained down, and need to be refilled and the systems bled.  You would also probably want to drain and refill the fuel tank, etc.

The current owners are primarily interested in seeing the car go to a new, good home where their exemplary stewardship of the car will be continued.  Their asking price is very fair as a result – please contact me directly to discuss.

Because of it’s originality, coupled with its impeccable preservation – this is an investment-grade E-Type that will continue to appreciate.

I have said it before and I will say it again – a 4-speed 2+2 is the BEST KEPT SECRET of the E-Type world – and the BIGGEST BARGAIN!  My copyrighted quote on these cars is, “It’s 100% of the E-Type experience at less than 50% of the price!”  And this one is an EXCELLENT example – making that statement even MORE true!  This is another E-Type that I would LOVE to own personally – I will probably regret not doing so in the future – but my family is absolutely in LOVE with our own 2+2, and it is not for sale at any price!

Take a look through the additional photos below and you’ll agree – this is a GREAT E-Type – Don’t miss it!
