Hershey 2016 – Wednesday

Well, another Hershey has come and gone, and this might honestly have been the BEST Hershey yet – and that is REALLY saying something from a guy who just went for the 33rd time!  There is nothing like Hershey – it is just GREAT!  I was so happy while I was just walking around looking at junk that I could barely stand it!

The other thing about Hershey is that time really does stand still there…  You always feel like you were just there yesterday, and while you ARE there, outside of the flea market, it could be this year, last year, or 1988!  I love it…

This year, the weather was PERFECT – and I guess after several years of some serious issues (two years ago it was basically rained out…), people finally decided to really give it their all!  Over about the past 10 years, the number of vendors in the flea market has been dwindling steadily, and I have always attributed it to the ease with which you can find parts on the Internet and eBay…  I actually longed for the days when you had to SCOUR Hershey for the parts needed for your antique project car, because if you don’t find it there, you’re in BIG trouble!

Well, this year was like going back 10 or even 20 years in that regard!  Just like the 80’s and 90’s, it seemed like every single spot was just OVERFLOWING with rusty car parts – it was GREAT!!!

And so I just immersed myself in the fun – as I always do – and pushed through the considerable pain being inflicted on my legs with LOTS of Advil…  Modern phones will log the number of steps you take in a day, and everyone is trying to get to 10,000 steps a day to stay fit – I usually do about 6,000….  On Wednesday and Thursday at Hershey, I did over 29,000 steps/12 miles – each day!

And I would have doubled that number if the sun stayed up – I think I would have walked the flea market until my legs just crumbled underneath me.

Enjoy the photos – some of them really capture how great it was – and it was even better than it looks! – Chuck
