Well, let’s face it – it’s overdue, and Heaven knows I earned it – so I bought myself an E-Type – that RUNS!<\/p>\n

I got a call in September from a friend of an old co-worker who was looking for a good home for his E-Type.\u00a0 At first, I wasn’t that interested because it was a 2+2 – and I’m kind of a short-wheelbase, roadster guy…\u00a0 But I have a strict policy of following all leads, and so on a nice cool afternoon in late September, I took the afternoon off and drove a couple hours north in the Corvette with the top down to at least go check it out…<\/p>\n

Well, I was not even out of the car yet when I already knew that I was going to be alot poorer than I had planned this Fall, because I fell in love with this car at first sight!<\/p>\n

This is a GREAT E-Type!\u00a0 And aside from a respray to the willow\/mint green color in 1971, she is BONE-STOCK-VIRGIN with 41,000 miles!\u00a0 Furthermore, this is a FACTORY 4-speed\/AC\/triple-carb E-Type – how many of THOSE have you seen?\u00a0 I’ve spent my whole life around E-Types and I’ve seen……\u00a0 NONE!<\/p>\n

This is a very late Series 1 2+2.\u00a0 It is within the accepted Series 1 serial number range by about 100 cars.\u00a0 The ONLY features of this car that are not strictly Series 1 are the open headlights and the non-curly wire wheel hubs – although it DOES have eared knock-offs – weird!<\/p>\n

The car was built in June of 1967 – right at the beginning of alot of changes for the E-Type.\u00a0 It was originally indigo blue with a medium grey interior.\u00a0 The gentleman I purchased the car from was the second owner – he purchased it in 1969 with 21,000 miles on it.\u00a0 The paint was cracking already and he was not wild about the color, so he painted it this green in 1971 – the year I was born.\u00a0 When I took ownership of the car in late November, it had 41,000 miles on it – most of which he said he put on in the first 4-5 years of the 44 YEARS that he owned it!<\/p>\n

And so, once again, I drained the Monocoque Metalworks bank account down to zero, and suffered through another period of touch-and-go finances and long hours to make it up – just to buy some “great E-Type deal” – although this pretty much takes the cake in that department…<\/p>\n

SO – needless to say, I’m not expecting much for Christmas – this will do just fine.\u00a0 Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year to all of you and your families, and thanks for another great year of being able to do what I love for a living! – Chuck<\/p>\n
