I received an email this morning that prompted me to throw up a quick blog because it’s just so cool!<\/p>\n

These photos are of an E-type vintage racer owned by William Gely in France. He and I have communicated a couple of times about various parts, etc., and he sent me these photos of his racer this morning on his way out the door to the Monza Historic festival.<\/p>\n

I LOVE this car! William’s E-type is prepped in “pre-1963” racing trim, with very period racing upgrades and even retaining the SU carbs. I also LOVE the color – VERY period! In my opinion, if you are building a non-stock E-Type and want more of a “racing” look, THIS is what it should look like. I see too many E-Types that I believe are “over-done”…<\/p>\n

Dear friends:<\/p>\n

A late start for in your socks this season, but it was well worth the wait: We kick-off with a beautiful event on a magnificent racetrack, Monza Historic, which will take place on 10-12 July. Then we will go on to Spain, having been fortunate enough to have been accepted at the 50th anniversary of the Jarama racetrack, in the Iberian Historic Endurance series. Finally our season will end with the Dix Mille Tours at the Circuit Paul Ricard where we hope that G\u00e9rard and Claude will take the start in their semi-lightweight. Three legendary racetracks and a lot of fun to be had.<\/p>\n

So we start with Monza and a very fast track on which we can hope that the weight of our fixed-head will not be as much of a handicap as it is on other tracks. However, taking into consideration the opposition which showed up at the Grand Prix de l’Age d’Or, the challenge will be holding our own among the other E-types present. Indeed, in very full grid of 112 entries, no fewer than 15 E-types are registered. Among these only one other car shares our pre-63 specifications and SU carburrettors, so it will be our benchmark. Bear in mind that this year E-types have become increasingly competitive, J-P Lajournade having finished second at the Age d’Or in his new car!<\/p>\n

Taking place on a racetrack carved in 2000 acres of park land in the beautiful city of Monza and with an excellent gathering of historic racecars, this first edition promises to be quite remarkable. For further information, this is the official website:<\/p>\n
